Edwiser Bridge 1.2: Fresh New Layouts & Customizable Email Templates

So it’s been a few months since we talked about Edwiser Bridge– a plugin loved by both, the Moodle and WordPress community alike; after all its main purpose is to connect both the platforms.

That’s because our Edwiser Bridge development team had been working behind the scenes thrashing every bug, listening to suggestions and trying to come up with exciting new features for you.

And today, we are happy to announce a major, user-centric update to the Edwiser Bridge plugin. The latest update is version 1.2, a huge leap from the previous version.

With the 1.2 update, we have introduced a whole set of new features, bug fixes and tweaks to the User Interface. Let’s discuss these changes briefly.

Sell to a Wider Audience with Additional Currency Support

Edwiser Bridge supports payments in a bunch of currencies like Dollar, Euro, Yen, Franc and more.

In the latest update, we have added support for the following popular currencies too:

  • Australian Dollar (AUD)
  • Polish Zloty (PLN)
  • Danish Krone (DKK)
  • Singapore Dollar (SGD)

Engage Customers with Sleeker Layouts for Course Pages

Layouts can make or break a webpage. The need for a clutter-free layout led us through the the process of designing new layouts for Single Course and Course Archive pages.

Here is a preview of the improved pages:

We also introduced a revamped My Courses (user enrolled courses) page for users to view their enrolled courses. The page also displays a ‘Recommended Courses’ section, to existing students. This lets them discover new courses, which they might ultimately enroll too, helping you cross-sell your courses! 🙂

The layouts have been kept simple and distraction-free. Though you can tweak the pages to their fullest through your theme’s style.css file.

Personalize Communication with Customized Email Templates

Email Templates had been a part of Edwiser Bridge since its launch, but there was no easy way to edit the templates without messing with code.

With this update we finally rolled out the WYSIWYG editor for managing Email Templates.

Edwiser Bridge sends an email notification when either of these events occur:

  • New user registration
  • WordPress user links to Moodle
  • Course order completion
  • Course subscription expiration

With Email Templates, you can set up your custom email scripts for each of these events.

You can customize the template in your WordPress visual editor, add From Name, Subject and even use predefined template constants (for eg: {course_name} will be replaced by the actual course name).

To preview your template, you can even send a test email from the Dashboard to a mail id of your choice. You can check out the details in the documentation.

Notify Students on Course Unenrollment

Now, students get a notification in the form of an email when they unenroll from a course, that they were previously a part of.

This has been done in order to keep the student updated about the changes to their course.

Admin Support: New Translations Added

We’ve realized that a large number of you reside in non English speaking countries and with this in mind, we have started translating our plugin so we can cater to this userbase.

For now we have started with German, Italian and Spanish. But we certainly don’t intend to stop here.

(For those of you looking for additional translations and are willing to help, do get in touch)

Admin Support: Shortcodes, Shortcodes and More Shortcodes

We know how much you love shortcodes, we do too! Hence we introduced a couple of new shortcodes to ease your Bridge experience.

The following new shortcodes were implemented in our core:

  • eb_courses – This allows you to list the available courses
  • eb_my_courses – Shows a list of user enrolled courses
  • eb_course – Allows you to show a single course, accepts the argument “id” i.e Course ID

We also replaced a shortcode “eb_user_profile” with “eb_user_account”, which lets you update Moodle as well as WordPress user profiles.

Endnote

Apart from these newly added features, a couple of bugs were squashed in this update. A short list of the same is as follows:

  • Fixed Permalink issue
  • Fixed Undefined Index issue
  • Fixed Paypal Sandbox mode issue

That is all for now!

We are constantly working to add new features to the plugin and welcome all kinds of feedback that will help us improve Edwiser Bridge.

v1.2.1 UPDATE: The Version 1.2.1 update patches a few bugs and adds a functionality to display the user’s Moodle account link/unlink status on user’s list table for the administrator.

Do share this news on your Social Networks! And if you haven’t done so already, update Edwiser Bridge to the latest version right away!!

We look forward to hearing your thoughts.

    Please!
My Edwiser Bridge send the first E-mail (welcome), But, the Course Order Completion form is being sent by WooCommerce, not th Mail Template by Edwiser.
    Can you Help-me?

      Hi Paulo,

I hope you have been doing good. I’m sure that Sarang, from our team, was able to assist you back then. 🙂

I’d just like to reiterate. If you’re using WooCommerce Integration to sell your Moodle courses, then the order completion email will be sent by WooCommerce and not by Edwiser Bridge.

Do let me know if you need any other assistance.

      Best Regards,
      Adarsh
