How to enter and edit grades in Moodle

Want to understand How to Grade in Moodle? This could be tricky for beginners, but what if there’s an easier way?

In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to Grade in Moodle using two methods. And also highlight how Edwiser RapidGrader can streamline the process.

Easy way of Grading in Moodle

Step 1
In this easy way we use Edwiser RapidGrader Plugin to Grade.
As you can see the Edwiser RapidGrader Block, in the Dashboard of the Image 1, here you select the course which you wish to grade.
Quizzes included in that course appear in the block.
Click on the ‘Grade’ Button, corresponding to the Quiz you wish to Grade.

Step 2
A Grading Screen will appear. This is an engineered Grading screen, in which you can view student names, question numbers.
‘Required Grading’ questions highlighted in Blue color,
‘Not Answered’ questions highlighted in Red color.
And already Graded questions, highlighted in Green color.
Click on the question number which you wish to grade.

Step 3
A Screen will appear, where, you will see the question number, question, answer, field to comment and grade, ‘Submit’ button, all in 1 Single screen.
Click on the ‘Grade’ field, to type the Grade.

Step 4
Click on the ‘Comment’ text box to type your feedback, if any.

Note : If you wish to see the response history for that question, Click on the ‘View Response History’ prompt.

A pop-up appears, with the response history. You can dismiss this pop-up with the ‘X’ prompt.

Step 5
Once you have Graded the question, the next question details will automatically appear.
If you wish to discontinue the grading process, you can click on the ‘X’ prompt.

Step 6
Once, you are done with the Grading process, you need to click on the ‘Go Back’ prompt on the top right corner.
That’s it! You have successfully Graded a quiz in Moodle.

Traditional way of Grading in Moodle

Step 1
To open the quiz the one you wish to Grade, Open the course.

Step 2
Open the Quiz which you wish to Grade.

Step 3
Click on the ‘Attempts: ‘ prompt.

Step 4
Scroll down and you will see the submissions of Learners. Click on the ‘Requires Grading’ prompt, corresponding to the Question Number and Student you wish to Grade.

Step 5
A window will pop up in which you will see the question, answer, student name, etc. Scroll down in that window, till you see a ‘Comment’ block. Then, click on the ‘Make comment or override mark’ prompt.

Step 6
Another window will pop up, again scroll down till you see ‘Mark’ field.

Step 7
Click on the ‘Mark’ field, and type the Grade, and submit feedback, if any, in the ‘Comment’ field.
Then scroll down, until you see the ‘Save’ button.

Step 8
Click on the ‘Save’ button.

Step 9
Click on the ‘Close the window’ button. Then refresh the main Window, for the changes to be visible.

Step 10
That’s it! You will have a question graded successfully. To edit a Grade, click on the Grade you wish to edit and follow the same steps from Step 5.
