The Settings tab has two sections: Google Analytics and App Feature Controls.
Google Analytics
Google Analytics helps you understand how learners interact with the mobile app — which courses they open, where they spend time, and what features they use.
Note: Google Analytics is only available with a Premium license.
How to Set Up Google Analytics
- Make sure you have a Premium license activated.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Under Google Analytics, check the box for Enable Google Analytics.
- Enter your GA4 Measurement ID. This looks like G-XXXXXXXXXX.
- You can find this in your Google Analytics account under Admin → Data Streams → Web stream details.
- Enter your GA4 API Secret.
- In the same Data Stream settings, look for Measurement Protocol and click Create to generate an API Secret.
- (Optional) Check Debug Mode if you want to test events before going live.
- Debug Mode sends data to Google’s test area so you can verify it is working.
- Save your settings.
How It Works
- The mobile app reads your Google Analytics settings from Moodle.
- The app sends usage events directly to Google — your Moodle server is not involved.
- You can view reports in your Google Analytics dashboard as you normally would.
What Events Can You Track?
The mobile app can send events for:
- Opening courses and activities.
- Downloading courses for offline use.
- Completing quizzes and assignments.
- Using different login methods (password, fingerprint, QR code, social login).
- Viewing the calendar, dashboard, and private files.
