Offering 5–10 carefully chosen languages creates a better user experience than a dropdown with 100 entries. Consider your actual audience demographics.
2. Use the “Exclude” Feature Wisely
Always exclude:
– Proper nouns (names, institutions)
– Course codes and IDs
– Technical commands (e.g., “Click Submit” if “Submit” must remain in English for UI consistency)
– Mathematical or scientific notation
3. Test on Mobile
A significant portion of Moodle users access courses on mobile devices. Always verify that the switcher is easy to tap and does not overlap with other mobile navigation elements.
4. Coordinate with Theme Colors
- Light navbars → Use Light appearance
- Dark navbars → Use Dark appearance
- RemUI users → The plugin adapts automatically; just pick the mode that matches your default state
5. Communicate with Your Users
Add a short announcement or FAQ entry explaining that machine translation is available. Set expectations about accuracy, especially for specialized terminology.
6. Respect Course-Level Language Settings
If a course has “Force language” enabled, Edwiser Localizer automatically hides itself on that course. Do not try to override this — it prevents confusing language conflicts.
